The Opposition View - Morecambe

The Opposition View - Morecambe

In the wake of yesterday's 4-2 defeat to Morecambe, here are some views on the game from the Shrimps' manager Jim Bentley and a selection of their fans.

"It was a massive performance and a great win for us," said Bentley, speaking to Radio Lancs.

"It was thoroughly deserved, I thought we were at it from minute one."

"It was a decent pitch and we played some good football... our pitch is shot at the moment."

"Three-nil up at half time and it could easily have been four or five."

"Second-half we've come out and nearly scored to make it four right after the restart and then Wylde has got the fourth."

"And then, fair play to Wycombe, they had to go for it. 4-0 down, they may as well have a go, and they pushed everyone forward."

"Akinfenwa was unplayable at times. Free-kicks and direct balls into the box and it was his head getting on it, and Baz had to make a couple of good saves and it was all hands to the pump at times."

"We ran the clock down when we had to, we put it in good areas and we were quite disciplined."

"I'm obviously disappointed we've conceded two, but we've come to second in the league who have scorers throughout, and for large periods we kept them quiet."

"No-one would have given us a chance here today," he said.

The Morecambe fans couldn't believe their eyes.

"Where did that come from? Just what we needed on a day when all around us were winning. Great day for Kev. Bit of an enigma, goes missing for a while then does the business when we really need it. Still at his age he's amazing!!"

"What does Kevin Ellison ever do for us? What a scorcher. Then he did some press-ups as celebration to prove he's not an old man yet!"

"Great result. If we did shut up shop after scoring four goals it was exactly the right decision."

"Well nobody on the prediction thread has got this one right."

"Jim clearly pinned the prediction thread on the dressing room wall, and said... this is what our own fans think."
