Preview: Wycombe Wanderers v Preston North End

Wycombe Wanderers entertain Preston North End on Saturday in the third round of the FA Cup.

The Chairboys claimed all three points with a 2-1 win at bottom-of-the-table Forest Green Rovers on New Year's Day.

Goals from Matt Bloomfield and Craig Mackail-Smith were enough to give Wanderers their first away win in the league in seven attempts.

The victory carried Gareth Ainsworth's side up to 4th in League Two with 43 points, exactly the same number of points as they had at the same stage last season.

Ainsworth made three changes to his starting line-up against Rovers on Monday.

Will de Havilland, Matt Bloomfield and Nick Freeman were all handed recalls to the side in place of Eberechi Eze and Nathan Tyson who both dropped to the bench, and Sido Jombati who missed out through injury.

Marcus Bean made a welcome return as a second-half substitute.

The Blues' boss has a host of injury concerns ahead of this weekend's clash with the Lilywhites.

Dominic Gape was forced off at Forest Green whilst Nathan Tyson was hobbling after taking a couple of knocks.

Adam El-Abd (calf), Sido Jombati and Paris Cowan-Hall (both unspecified injuries) are also struggling to be fit.

Anthony Stewart is unlikely to have recovered from a calf injury and Scott Kashket`s status remains unclear.

Eberechi Eze has returned to parent club QPR following the end of a productive loan spell, while Michael Harriman continues his rehabilitation from a broken leg.

Preston were beaten 3-2 at home to Middlesbrough on New Year's Day.

Alex Neil's side lost their nine game unbeaten run despite goals from Callum Robinson and Jordan Hugull, who has now scored 10 during the current campaign.

Preston are 9th in the Championship with 40 points, one point more than they had at the same stage last season.

The Lilywhites could hand a debut to new signing Louis Moult, after the striker completed a move from Motherwell earlier this week.

Tommy Spurr, Josh Earl and Sean Maguire are all sidelined.

Darnell Fisher is doubtful, but Greg Cunningham could return following a hamstring injury.
