The Opposition View - Mansfield Town

Following yesterday's 0-0 draw at Mansfield Town, here are some views on the game from the Stags' manager Steve Evans and a selection of their fans.

"We didn't play well tonight," said Evans, speaking to the Dispatch

"We can't disguise that fact. We worked hard but we didn`t work smart or get on the ball with any purpose. It was a long night."

"Credit to Wycombe. After five minutes they changed their system a little bit as we were on top and should have been in front."

"Conrad has made two or three great saves. His one from (Scarr's) header was world class. He was going in the opposite direction and had to twist."

"The plus side is we have a clean sheet and a point against a team that I think will be in the top four or five for sure."

"They (Wycombe) fought really hard. While I'm saying we didn't play well, you have to give credit to Wycombe for their hard work to match us," said the Stags' boss

The Mansfield fans felt Wycombe edged it and were grateful for a point.

The following extracts are taken from Stagsnet.

Edwinstowestag wrote:
"Wycombe were a well organised side, and after the first 15 minutes they learned how to deal with the Stags' formation. They dealt with the appalling conditions better than we did."

Rob wrote:
"If it was possible to be 3rd best in a game between 2 teams, then that was us! Conrad Logan has kept us in it."

Frontrowhero wrote:
"Conrad was superb tonight. To put in a performance like that in the first half in wet/windy difficult GK conditions was top drawer. Three very good saves, fully deserved man of the match."

Sandy Pate Best Stag wrote:
"I said before the game that this match would show what kind of stomach our team has for a fight in poor conditions. Although we didn't lose, I'm not altogether sure we were up for the fight. Wycombe aren't fools and with 20 minutes to go I would have taken the point."

Jamie wrote:
"Lee Angol won countless fouls and won us chances to have a go ourselves against a team playing much better than us."

cassellswasmagic wrote:
"Angol was ok. He`s a strong lad but Wycombe coped well with him tonight."

Sina Stag wrote:
"Every time Angol went near the ball, three players surrounded him. I`m not a fan of Ainsworth but he did his homework. Good game in poor conditions - 0 0 fair result."

Foresttownstag wrote:
"Good point against one of the top sides in the league. We weren't anywhere near good enough tonight but to play as we did, you have to be pleased with a point."

die hirsche wrote:
"A point at home against a Wycombe team that will probably be around the play-offs...ok. Not the end of the world, but you've got to think... if we`re a top 3 team we should be beating them."

adamstag wrote:
"Wycombe aren't mugs. It's not a bad point."

Daddycool wrote:
"Awful team to play against, continually breaking play up when not in possession. Not saying they`re not a decent team and were probably better on the night, but we struggled with their physicality. Could be a good point at the end of the season."

yorkshire stag wrote:
"They never stopped pulling us back every time we tried to attack. They also bossed us and played on the floor through midfield."

Bobbystagsfan wrote:
"The Wycombe defenders were miles better than Grimsby's. They let our strikers have nothing."

Tippy Tappy Football wrote:
"Wycombe deserved to win based on the chances they created in the 1st half. The lad on loan from QPR, Ebere Eze (27) played very well."
