The Opposition View - Notts County
In the wake of yesterday's 4-2 defeat at home to Notts County, here are some views on the game from the Magpies' manager Kevin Nolan and a selection of their fans.
"I thought we controlled the first half and really deserved to be 2-0 up," said Nolan, speaking to his club's official website
"I said to the lads at half time, 'A bit more of the same and don't go away from what you're doing.'
"We then took a bit of extra time on the ball and were getting caught in possession which allowed Wycombe to get into the game."
"Gareth set his team up to come at us in the second half."
"But for our substitutes to get two goals late on was fantastic," he said.
"We always ask the subs to be ready and to make sure they have a positive impact when they come on, and I thought all three did."
The County fans were delighted to score four away from home.
The following extracts are taken from One Football Forum, Vital Notts County, Notts County Mad and the Pride of Nottingham.
"Bizarre game. Notts bossed the opening half taking a two goal advantage which should have been more. Second half Wycombe were in inspired form, looked very dangerous and were the far better team. But Wycombe switched off in the closing stages and we capitalised on some very sloppy defending."
"Great stuff Notts. Shows some character to recover from the blow of surrendering a two goal lead to then go on to win 4-2.
"Thought we should have been more than 2-0 up at half time but the first 35 of the second half Wycombe battered us and deserved to draw it level. That said, the two goals they scored were absolute belters that we couldn't do a lot about. Game changed again when Forte came on.".
"Done and dusted, absolutely cracking result today, can`t remember the last time we scored 4 in a game."
"Their keeper was dodgy and we won`t come across generous defending like that every week. Made me laugh out loud at times."
"Our old habit of conceding two goals a game has come back to haunt us. It just makes it more difficult to win football matches."
"Good old Jonathan Forte saving the day, I hope he has a word with Kevin Nolan because he's looking a great option. 4-2 was a complete turn-around after we allowed Wycombe back into the game."
"We completely bossed the first half and while we were rocked by their comeback, superb character was shown to bounce back and claim the 3 points."
"That own goal was a bit special wasn't it."
