Preview: Barnet v Wycombe Wanderers

Wycombe Wanderers travel to Barnet on Monday for their 43rd league game of the season.

The Chairboys were beaten 1-0 by play-off rivals Mansfield Town at Adams Park on Good Friday.

They went into the game on the back of a 3-3 draw at home to relegation-threatened Cheltenham Town and are now without a win in their last seven home games.

After Friday's defeat, Wanderers dropped two places to 13th in the table, four points adrift of the play-off places with four games still to play.

For the second season in a row, the turn of the year has heralded an alarming deterioration in results, on both occasions taking the Chairboys from 5th place on 31st December to mid-table at the business end of the campaign.

There's still a chance to reverse the slide, and ironically, as their home form has collapsed, their away form has improved, with Wanderers winning their last three games on the road.

Another win at the Hive would keep their slim play-off hopes alive, but it's likely that Wanderers would need to win all their remaining matches to overtake the six sides that stand in their way.

Ainsworth made five changes to his starting line-up last time out with Sido Jombati, Luke O'Nein Marcus Bean, Adebayo Akinfenwa and Scott Kashket all handed recalls to the side.

They replaced Dominic Gape and Nick Freeman who dropped to the bench, and Will de Havilland, Sam Wood and Dayle Southwell who were all left out of the squad.

Sam Saunders and Myles Weston were recalled to the bench after recovering from knocks.

Ainsworth has no new injury concerns ahead of the clash with the Bees and will check upon the fitness of winger Paris Cowan-Hall, who is struggling with yet another injury.

Defender Anthony Stewart remains sidelined with a medial knee ligament injury and is unlikely to be risked before the end of the season.

Barnet were beaten 2-1 by play-off chasers Exeter City at St James Park on Good Friday.

The Bees went into the game on the back of a 1-0 loss at home to Luton Town and have now suffered three straight league defeats.

They have won just one of the eleven league matches played since Kevin Nugent was appointed as manager two months ago, drawing four and losing six. He has now been sacked.

Currently 16th in the League Two table, the Bees will be hoping to record a long overdue victory when they host Wycombe Wanderers at the Hive on Easter Monday.

Nugent made three changes to his starting line-up last time out with midfielder Jack Taylor handed his first start in two months after recovering from hernia surgery. Winger Luke Coulson and striker Simeon Akinola were also recalled to the side.

Midfielders Curtis Weston and Fumnaya Shomotun and winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce all dropped to the bench.

Rossi Eames has been placed in caretaker charge and has no new injury concerns ahead of the clash with the Chairboys.

Loan goalkeeper Josh Vickers (quad muscle) and full-back James Pearson (long-term knee injury) are closing in on a return from their respective injuries but aren't expected to make the squad.

Midfielder Ryan Watson needs knee surgery and will miss the rest of the campaign whilst strikers Michael Gash (anterior cruciate knee ligaments), Shane Cojocarel (broken forearm) and Shaun Batt (ruptured hamstring) have all been ruled-out until next season.
