Preview: Wycombe Wanderers v Mansfield Town

Wycombe Wanderers entertain Mansfield Town on Friday in their 42nd league game of the season.

The Chairboys had to settle for a share of the spoils after conceding an equaliser eight minutes from time in a 3-3 draw at home to ten-man Cheltenham Town on Saturday.

Wanderers have now failed to win any of their last six games at Adams Park, 3 draws and 3 defeats earning them just 3 points from the last possible 18 on home soil.

As recently as mid February, Wycombe boasted the second-best home record in the division, but only Orient have a worse record since then.

It's an unfortunate turnaround, and a frustrating one when you consider that Wanderers are still only three points adrift of the play-offs despite the slump.

But Blues' boss Gareth Ainsworth will only be concerned with the final five games of the season, three of which are at home, starting with the Stags on Friday.

Despite Wanderers collecting only 13 points from the last 13 games, a play-off place is still up for grabs, and there are plenty of contenders, with only 4 points separating Exeter in 6th and Mansfield in 13th.

The double-header over Easter is likely to sort the wheat from the chaff, and the 11th placed Chairboys will probably need maximum points to maintain a realistic challenge.

Ainsworth made four changes to his starting line-up last time out, springing several surprises. Midfielder Nick Freeman was handed a recall to the side, and striker Dayle Southwell also returned, as did midfielders Dominic Gape and Sam Wood.

Midfielder Luke O'Nien and striker Adebayo Akinfenwa were both dropped to the bench whilst midfielder Sam Saunders and winger Myles Weston both missed out through injury.

Star striker Scott Kashket came on as a second-half substitute.

Defender Max Müller and loan striker Alex Jakubiak were both left out of the 18-man squad altogether.

Ainsworth has a number of concerns ahead of this weekend's clash with the Stags, with winger Paris Cowan-Hall struggling with yet another injury, while Weston and Saunders will be assessed ahead of the game.

Defender Anthony Stewart will miss both games over the Easter weekend with knee ligament damage.

Mansfield Town were beaten 1-0 by league leaders Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium last weekend.

The Stags went into the game on the back of a 2-1 defeat at home to play-off rivals Exeter City and have won just two of their last eight league matches, drawing two and losing the other four.

As a result, they`ve fallen four places to 13th in the League Two table, four points behind 7th-placed Carlisle United.

Manager Steve Evans named a completely unchanged starting line-up last time out with loan defender George Taft keeping his place in the side having made his first start since August after recovering from a long-term hamstring injury.

Defender Krystian Pearce kept his place alongside him in the centre of defence having recovered from a twisted ankle.

Striker Yoann Arquin made a welcome return to the bench after recovering from a tight groin. He was preferred to midfielder James Baxendale who was left out of the 18-man squad.

Evans has no new injury concerns ahead of this weekend's clash with Chairboys and will check upon the fitness of loan full-back Hayden White who has returned to training this week after missing two games with a hamstring injury.

Striker Pat Hoban is also back in training after recovering from a sore knee and will be hoping to make the bench. Goalkeeper Scott Shearer is unlikely to play again this season due to elbow and knee injuries.
