'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Opposition View - Stevenage

Following this afternoon's delightful 3-1 win at Stevenage, here are the views of their manager Graham Westley and some of their supporters.

Westley knew that his side got what they deserved.

"We were always going to have a couple of horrible games in the evolution of this team. When you've got a new group of players learning each other, things go wrong sometimes."

"Today is one of those days, we got a lot wrong. There are excuses but we won't look to them - the injury which was a damn nuisance in the first half... In the end we've gone 2-1 down to two really poorly defended set pieces. A couple of the lads weren't certain about the jobs they were doing and that uncertainty cost us," he said.

Regarding Darius Charles' goal, Westley said: "I said to Gareth that if I had conceded the goal I would have been crying about it. Because the goalkeeper went down there will be the argument that it is ungentlemanly but there was nothing wrong with that at all."

"We played into their hands, it was a poor quality performance, there is no question about that."

As expected the Stevenage fans weren't impressed with what they saw.

The following extracts are taken from Boro Chat and Twitter.

@Govey24 said: 'Wycombe will call us big, strong, physical, cheats etc, guaranteed. They were no better'.

@NeilSullivan7 said: 'Wycombe did a job on us today. Stopped us playing 2nd half, we couldn't break them down'.

@OOSev said: 'I don`t think we were awful and Wycombe weren't any better than us. We are a bit naive and making individual errors. This can be worked on'.

@borojason said: 'Well that was bloody grim 1-0 up then we gave it away and it was a great goal for Wycombe's first'.

@bcb2294 said: 'Some may say Wycombe's keeper should of been sent off for handballing it once Darius had gotten away from him'.

@a_cheevers said: 'Wycombe's first goal was a moment of pure class. Their second and third goals were down to pure awful defending'.

Pie and Mash said: 'Yes we scored. Other than that a toothless performance upfront.Poor defending to blame for all three goals'.

Sonicmoose said: 'Insipid going forward, shambolic at the back. Utterly rubbish game of football'.

Keith_Razor_SFC said: 'Officials were shocking but not as bad as our performance'.

Sev said: 'Their first was a great finish and nice bit of skill, but again questionable defending to let him have the opportunity'.

SFC George said: 'Good free kick routine from Wycombe will have Westley seething'.
