Blues win at Chalfont in the B&B Cup

Wanderers ran out 4-2 winners at Chalfont St Peter this evening in the first round of the Berks and Bucks Senior Cup.

The Chairboys lined up in a 3-5-2 formation.
41 year old Lee Harrison donned the gloves, with the three-man defence consisting of Nick Arnold, Anthony Stewart and Charles Dunne.
On the wings were Lee Angol and Jon Paul Pittman, with Matt Bloomfield, Matt Spring and Josh Scowen forming a midfield triumvirate.
Jo Kuffour and Junior Morias were the chosen front pair, with Ingram, Morgan, Kretzschmar, Cowan-Hall and manager Ainsworth named as substitutes.

The visitors took the lead on 13 minutes when Kuffour back-heeled neatly for Pittman, whose powerful strike across goal could only be helped into the corner by the Chalfont keeper.

Just three minutes later it was 2-0 to the Wanderers when Morias was denied in a one on one with the keeper and Kuffour was on hand to tuck home the rebound.

Scott Fitzgerald halved the deficit on the half hour mark, before Anthony Stewart was fortunate to see a handball shout waved away by the referee.

The Blues led 3-1 at half time however, courtesy of Josh Scowen. Morias robbed a defender, crossed for Kuffour and the striker found Scowen who finished well.

Half time saw no changes and the game became rather scrappy. The introduction of the returning Cowan-Hall eventually livened the game up again with 15 minutes remaining, as the tricky winger enjoyed three shots on target within minutes of entering the field in an enterprising and energetic substitute appearance.

Anthony Stewart made it 4-1 with an emphatic header from a Spring corner on 82 minutes, before Fitzgerald headed a consolation from a corner with two minutes remaining.

Team: Harrison 7, Arnold 6, Stewart 7, Dunne 7, Angol 7, Spring 7, Bloomfield 7 (Kretzschmar 74' 6), Scowen 8*; Kuffour 7 (Cowan-Hall 74' 7), Morias 6, Pittman 7
