Blues held to a draw by Oxford City

Wycombe Wanderers rounded-off their pre-season campaign with a 1-1 draw at Conference North side Oxford City.

The Hoops were the better side for the opening half-hour and deservedly took an early lead when Charles Dunne was easily dispossessed and Matt Ingram could only parry Steve Basham's shot into the path of Albi Skendi who fired the ball home.

Slowly but surely Wycombe began to impose themselves on the game and Jon-Paul Pittman slotted home a 38th minute equaliser following some excellent work from new-signing Steven Craig.

The second half belonged entirely to the Chairboys but they couldn't make it count.

As their superior fitness began to tell in the closing stages, the visitors created a host of opportunities, but Sam Wood missed a sitter, Matt Spring elected to pass when he should have shot, and Josh Scowen could only rattle the Hoops' crossbar.

Obviously saving the deadly accuracy for Morecambe in eight days time!

Line-up
Ingram, McCoy (Arnold 60), Stewart (Doherty 68), Johnson (Hause 80), Dunne, Cowan-Hall (Kretzschmar 85), Lewis (Spring 71), Scowen, Wood, Craig, Pittman (Morgan 60)

Attendance: 263
