Blues open with a 1-0 win at Havant

Wycombe Wanderers opened their pre-season schedule with a 1-0 win at Conference South side Havant & Waterlooville.

The Chairboys' first half line up contained two trialists, Colin Hamilton at left-back and Tom Fletcher in central-defence.

With the news that Charles Dunne played for Blackpool this afternoon, there is likely to be a vacancy at left-back and Hamilton did his chances of a further trial no harm with a composed performance, as did Fletcher.

Wycombe's only effort on target in the opening 45 minutes was a curling free kick from Max Kretzschmar that brought out a fine save from Hawks' keeper Scott Bevan.

First half line-up (4-3-3)
Ingram, McCoy, Fletcher, Doherty, Hamilton, Spring, Scowen, Kretzschmar, Morias, Kuffour, Pittman

The second half saw two more trialists take the field for Wycombe, left-winger Toby Down and striker Steven Craig. Neither impressed on this occasion.

The only goal of the game was scored after 63 minutes when Dean Morgan slotted home at the second attempt after good work from new-boy Paris Cowan-Hall.

The lead was preserved when Blues keeper Charlie Horlock made a superb penalty save with only a few minutes to go.

Second half line-up (4-4-1-1)
Horlock, Arnold, Stewart, Hause, Hamilton (Down 68), Cowan-Hall, Kewley-Graham, Lewis, Wood, Morgan. Craig
