Goalless in Luton

The Blues escaped from Kenilworth Road with a goalless draw after the Hatters spurned a host of chances to break the deadlock.

Gary Waddock's side created little of note and will need to buck their ideas up if they hope to make an impression on League Two in the coming season.

Matt Bloomfield hit the top of the crossbar and Gary Doherty had two efforts blocked during a goalmouth scramble, but that was as good as it got for the Blues in the first-half.

The closest they came after the break was when a Luton defender almost turned a Stuart Beavon cross into his own net.

Meanwhile the Hatters squandered loads of chances, the best falling to Andre Gray who put a free header wide of the post from point-blank range.

The biggest positive of the evening was the performance of young Anthony Stewart who was thoroughly impressive at centre-half for an hour before doing an equally good job at right-back for the remainder of the game.

Next up for the Blues is a home game against Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

Wycombe line-up
Bull, McCoy (Johnson 58), Doherty, Stewart, Dunne (Basey 58), Oli (Angol 78), Bloomfield, Spring, Wood (Lewis 58), Grant (Logan 58), Beavon
