Stuart Beavon carried on where he left off last season with both Wycombe's goals in a 2-1 win at Conference South side Farnborough FC.
All three goals were scored in the first-half with the entertainment taking a nosedive after the break.
Beavon slotted home the opener after 6 minutes, Boro's Phil Page equalised after 12, and the winner came after 24 minutes courtesy of a delicious chip from the Chairboys' talismanic striker.
The only highlights of the second-half were long range efforts from Charles Dunne and Stuart Lewis.
All the youngsters acquitted themselves well, with defenders Dunne and Stewart particularly catching the eye.
The pick of the new faces was Matt Spring who controlled the midfield with a composed first-half display.
The crucial question of who scores the goals if Beavon is sold remained unanswered this afternoon.
Next up for the Blues is a trip to Forest Green Rovers on Wednesday evening.
