Blues & Spireites in must-win game for both sides

Currently on a run of seven games without defeat, Wycombe Wanderers travel to Chesterfield on Monday for their 42nd league game of the season.

The league table currently shows Wycombe in 21st place with 42 points and the Spireites in 24th spot with 33 points, both sides having played 41 games.

Chesterf'ld Home Record..W 5 - D 6 - L 9.....Pts 21...Ppg 1.05 (Rank-22)

Wycombe Away Record....W 4 - D 4 - L 12...Pts 16...Ppg 0.80 (Rank-20)

Thirteen months ago Wycombe made their first ever trip to the b2net stadium hoping to catch Chesterfield in a race to the fourth division title.

It was an evening to forget for the travelling support as the Blues gave arguably their worst performance of the season and were lucky to escape with only a 4-1 thrashing.

The Spireites went on to claim the crown and Wycombe were promoted in third place.

How times change.

On Monday the two sides clash again but the stakes are very different.

A win for Wycombe would confirm Chesterfield's relegation back to the basement division.

A win for Chesterfield would very likely scupper Wycombe's chances of avoiding the drop themselves.

A draw could relegate Chesterfield depending on results elsewhere and would be of little use to Wycombe who are currently four points adrift of safety.

It's a must-win game for both sides.
