Ainsworth set for a month on the sidelines

Wycombe Wanderers Captain Gareth Ainsworth is set to miss the next month following surgery on a broken thumb.

The evergreen 38-year-old wing-man suffered the injury during the 2-1 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday at the end of October.

Surgery will take place on Thursday 10th November and he has been pencilled in for a return against Chesterfield at Adams Park on Saturday 10th December.

Ainsworth has made 14 appearances for the Chairboys so far this season. He's made 11 starts, has scored once (against former club Preston North End) and was sent-off against Wednesday ten days ago.

He joins a growing list of players in the treatment room and leaves manager Gary Waddock with little room for manoeuvre in his squad selection for this weekend's F.A. Cup first round tie at Fleetwood Town.
