Blues sign quality in Martin Rowlands

Wycombe Wanderers have signed Queens Park Rangers midfielder Martin Rowlands on a three-month loan.

An Irish international, 32 year-old Rowlands began his career in the Wycombe youth team before joining Farnborough Town in 1997, Brentford in 1998 and finally the Hoops in 2003.

During his time at Loftus Road, Rowlands scored 37 goals in just over 200 appearances, captained the side, and twice won both the players' and the supporters' player of the year awards.

Since suffering a serious cruciate ligament injury in October 2009, Rowlands has made only five appearances for QPR and one appearance on-loan at Millwall.

Rowlands told wwfc.com: "I'm happy to be signing for the club. I haven't played as much as I'd have liked in the last couple of years so I'm delighted Gary has given me this opportunity."

Waddock said: "Martin is a quality footballer and will offer more competition in midfield with his experience and knowledge. I know him well from our days at QPR together, and although the last two years haven't been kind to him in terms of game time, he's keen to show what he can do."

Wycombe legend Steve Brown also knows Rowlands and tweeted to his followers: "What a great signing that is. We have a true leader now. Free kick specialist, tough tackling, scores goals, I'm delighted by the news."

A very good signing. He fell out of favour under Warnock after looking impressive in the Championship under several previous managers. I think he'll do a fine job.
