It's Col U in the Carling Cup

Wycombe Wanderers will play Colchester United at Adams Park in the first round of this season's Carling Cup.

Described as a 'plum draw' against 'arch rivals' on Colchester's official website, the match will take place on Tuesday 9th August at 7.45pm.

Last season the Blues knocked the U's out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on their own patch with a fine 2-0 win courtesy of goals from Kevin Betsy and Scott Davies.

The season before, the two clubs drew 1-1 in both league matches with Wycombe's stoppage time equaliser in Essex the main talking point after Gareth Ainsworth admitted to accidentally punching the ball home.

In last season's Carling Cup, Wycombe lost in the first round at home to Millwall while Col U made their exit in the second round at Sunderland.
