Pittman expected to miss Bury clash

Wycombe Wanderers striker Jon-Paul Pittman is losing his battle to be fit for this weekend's crunch game with Bury.

The speedy marksman missed the Easter Weekend after taking a knock on his ankle. He was left out of the squad as a precaution and was hoping to return to training this week ahead of the promotion battle at Gigg Lane this coming Saturday

The Oklahoma City-born hitman endured a tough one-month spell with the Shakers on loan from Nottingham Forest back in 2006 although he did notch his first Football League goal in a 3-1 home defeat to Chester City.

Fellow front man Stuart Beavon is also struggling to face Bury. He missed the Easter Weekend action due to the knee injury that saw him substituted during the first half of the Blues' 2-2 draw at Oxford United.

The striker has had a scan in an attempt to ascertain the full extent of the injury and, like Pittman, could miss the rest of the season.

Defender Chris Westwood won't be available as he will need another week to recover from a calf strain and will be targeting the final day meeting with Southend United at Adams Park on May 7.

That leaves Gary Waddock with a trio of injury absentees but there is good news with Matt Bloomfield fit again after surgery to fix a hernia problem, defender Dave Winfield playing on despite a broken nose, Rob Kiernan recovering from a knock on his knee and winger Gareth Ainsworth overcoming a hamstring strain.
