Wycombe Wanderers travel to Chesterfield on Tuesday for their 33rd league game of the season.
The league table currently shows Wycombe in 2nd place with 56 points from 32 games and Chesterfield in top-spot with 62 points from 33 games
Chesterfield Home Record...Won 10 - Drawn 3 - Lost 3 - Pts 33 (Rank-1)
Wycombe's Away Record......Won 7 - Drawn 4 - Lost 4 - Pts 25 (Rank-3)
The Blues followed up an impressive 4-1 victory over Burton with a hard fought 1-0 win at Macclesfield to put a three-match losing streak behind them and restore confidence ahead of their first ever trip to Chesterfield's new stadium.
Yes, two wins in a row have raised expectations again and although the Wycombe fans would be happy with any form of promotion, they will be eyeing this game as an opportunity to throw the title race wide open.
As unlikely as it seemed only a week ago, victory on Tuesday would put the Blues just three points behind the Spireites with a game in hand and further dent the confidence of a Chesterfield side who have won only 3 of their 10 games since the turn of the season.
They may have the best home-record in the division but Chesterfield have only played one top-seven side at the b2net so far this season, and after facing Wycombe on Tuesday they still have Rotherham, Bury, Port Vale and Gillingham to come before the end of the campaign.
The Spireites won at Adams Park on 16th October mainly due to the deadly finishing of Craig Davies, but there was very little in it, and the Blues will believe they can reverse the result this week.
That victory over Wycombe took Chesterfield to the top of the table where they've remained for over four months. It's not easy being the runaway leaders as the Blues discovered in 2009, and the Spireites' recent results - including a 2-0 setback at home to Morecambe on Saturday - could reflect the pressure they're under to stay there.
One possible stumbling block to a Wycombe victory is their lack of central-defenders. Who lines up against the division's top-scorers on Tuesday is anyone's guess. Dave Winfield was sent off on Saturday and is now suspended. Rob Kiernan went off injured, Chris Westwood wasn't deemed fit enough for a place on the bench, Alan Bennett was missing through illness and Leon Johnson was inexplicably left out altogether.
