Blues sign central-defender on loan from Hornets

Wycombe Wanderers have signed centre-back Rob Kiernan on a one-month youth-loan from Watford.

The 20 year-old Republic of Ireland U21 international has previously spent time on-loan at Kilmarnock, Yeovil Town and Bradford City.

Blues boss Gary Waddock said: "He's a good, young player who we've been keeping an eye on. As soon as we knew he was available for loan, we were interested."

"He's looking to play first-team football and he will be a good addition to the group."

Kiernan watched Wycombe beat Burton 4-1 yesterday and said: "I was playing reserve football, which is good, but when you play in front of a crowd every week and play for three points with other professional players and experienced men, then you learn so much more."

"Going out on loan is massive for me as games bring improvement. Hopefully this season will mould me into the player I need to be."

Kiernan will train with his new team-mates for the first time tomorrow and has been allocated the number 24 shirt.
