Preview: Wycombe Wanderers v Cheltenham Town

Wycombe Wanderers entertain Cheltenham Town on Tuesday in their 26th league game of the season.

The league table currently shows Wycombe in 2nd place with 46 points from 25 games and Cheltenham in 10th spot with 38 points from 27 games

Wycombe's Home Record.....Won 7 - Drawn 3 - Lost 3 - Pts 24 (Rank-5)

Cheltenham's Away Record..Won 5 - Drawn 5 - Lost 4 - Pts 20 (Rank-6)

The Robins return to Adams Park for the first time since they beat Wycombe 2-1 in the first-leg of the 2005/06 play-off semi finals, a lead which turned out to be enough to see them safely through to Wembley at the Blues' expense.

A small measure of revenge was gained when Wycombe won 2-1 at Whaddon Road on New Year's Day, but doing the double over the Robins on Tuesday would help to ease the pain even more.

It could be tricky though. Cheltenham haven't lost a league game on the road since the middle of October and boast an impressive record of four wins and four draws from their last eight away trips.

On Saturday, they drew 1-1 at in-form Oxford United and would have won the game had top scorer Wesley Thomas successfully converted an 81st minute penalty.

Wycombe come into this game fresh from a ten day break during which most of their rivals played twice without doing too much damage. Now firmly ensconced in the automatic promotion places, the Blues are five points clear of Crewe in 4th and have games in hand over every team in the top ten except Bury.

It's a strong position to be in, and having worked extremely hard to get there, the Blues will be keen to consolidate their promotion challenge with a fifth consecutive home win on Tuesday evening.

Dave Winfield is suspended and will be replaced by either Leon Johnson or Alan Bennett. Striker Scott Rendell is still recovering from an ankle injury and left-back Andy Sandell is doubtful.
