'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Opposition View - Hereford United

Following the hard-fought 2-1 victory over Hereford United on Boxing Day, here are some views on the game from their manager Jamie Pitman and a few Bulls fans.

The Bulls boss was pleased with his sides performance but obviously not the result.

He said: 'We did ever so well in the first half and we were disappointed to go in a goal down. In general, our first-half performance was good and we changed a few things for the second half.

'We got our goal, but it's the same old thing - we were unable to see out the game; that is something that we have to learn and something that we have to learn quickly. If we can't see the game out then we will be in trouble every week.'

Blues boss Gary Waddock gave a frank but pragmatic assessment after seeing his side dig out the victory.

He said: 'We won ugly. We didn't play well, which you can put down to a number of things. But Hereford played well - we had heard before the game that, while they were bottom of the table, they possibly did not deserve to be there with the way that they had been playing. They will pick up points if they continue to play like that. They were the better side.

'When you are down that end of the table, as we know from last season, you don't get any luck. But it is all about winning and picking up three points, whatever way you get them. Of course we would like to have played better but we will pick up the newspaper in the morning and see that we have won a football match and got three points.'

It seems the dedicated/hearty/mad* (*delete as applicable) 200 or so Hereford United fans that made the trip to Adams Park didn't feel much like sharing their experiences online.

The Ex Landlord wrote:

For all their first half possession and good football, it was not until the second period that former Shots stopper Nikki Bull was forced into making a real save.'

'Most Bulls efforts were either high or wide and while defensive frailties will lead to conceding goals, one thing is for sure…the ball doesn`t go into the opponents net if it ain`t on target.'

'The match was played in a good spirit and the playing surface, although a little greasy, was good."

Next Game: Chesterfield v Wycombe Wanderers - Tuesday 28th December 2010 - Kick off 3.00pm (Subject to a Monday afternoon pitch inspection)
