Wycombe Wanderers travel to Port Vale on Saturday for their 17th league game of the season
The league table currently shows Wycombe in 4th place with 28 points and Vale in 2nd spot with 30 points.
Port Vale's Home Record.....Won 4 - Drawn 2 - Lost 1 - Pts 14 (Rank-3)
Wycombe's Away Record....Won 4 - Drawn 4 - Lost 0 - Pts 16 (Rank-2)
A resurgent Wycombe Wanderers travel to Port Vale on Saturday knowing that another away win would almost certainly propel them into the top three.
It's a difficult task for the Blues, but so were their trips to Rotherham, Burton and Stevenage - all places where they remain the only side to have won in the league this season.
Still unbeaten away from home, Wycombe have climbed the table by turning draws into wins, while Vale have been doing exactly the opposite.
Six wins in their opening eight league games took Vale to the top of the table, while Wycombe lagged ten points behind in 16th place with six draws and very few goals to their name.
Then at the end of September, the roles were reversed. The Blues embarked on their current run of six wins in eight, and the goals dried up for Vale - who have won only one of their last seven league games - four of which were goalless draws.
Consistently solid at the back, Vale just need to start scoring again, and their 4-0 FA Cup win over Conference South side Dartford in midweek will have boosted their strikers' confidence ahead of Saturday's game.
Having kept 10 clean sheets and conceded only 8 goals in 16 league games, Vale have by far the best defensive record in the division. Wycombe's defence has conceded twice as many but is still ranked third.
As far as goalscoring is concerned, Wycombe have bagged 25 league goals to Port Vale's 19, but more tellingly perhaps, in their last eight league games, the Blues have scored 18 and Vale only 5.
