Preview: Wycombe Wanderers v Bradford City

Wycombe Wanderers entertain Bradford City on Saturday in their 16th league game of the season

The league table currently shows Wycombe in 5th place with 25 points and Bradford in 10th spot with 20 points.

Wycombe's Home Record....Won 2 - Drawn 3 - Lost 2 - Pts 9 (Rank-20)

Bradford's Away Record......Won 2 - Drawn 2 - Lost 4 - Pts 8 (Rank-13)

"There's a few going back who played there, as well as the gaffer. In one sense it's just another game for three points but any player or manager will tell you that going back to an old club means that little bit extra." - Lewis Hunt

The Blues will be aiming to improve their poor home record against an in-form Bradford side containing several old-boys with an axe to grind.

It's only 18 months since Bantams' manager Peter Taylor led Wycombe to automatic promotion only to be sacked eleven games into the new campaign.

Although many fans weren't keen on Taylor's style of football, he succeeded where others had failed before him, and it was a harsh decision to fire him so early in the season, particularly when his efforts to strengthen the side during the summer had been hampered by an unsavoury power-play in the boardroom.

Ever the diplomat, Taylor insists there are no hard feelings - but that seems unlikely.

One man who makes no secret of his hard feelings is Tommy Doherty. Almost a cult figure during his time at Adams Park, Doherty made over 100 appearances for Wycombe before leaving the club last January - citing an unwillingness to play for manager Gary Waddock who he blames for the circumstances surrounding his departure from QPR.

The Doc doesn't say much, preferring to let his performances do the talking - and you can bet he's aiming to put on a good one this weekend.

Finally we have the return of Luke Oliver - a defender almost single-handedly held responsible for most of Wycombe's defensive catastrophes last season. He won't have forgotten the amount of stick he took from the fans and has plenty of motivation to turn the tables on them this Saturday.

Lewis Hunt is recovering from knee ligament damage and is sorry to miss the trip to Adams Park: "That was one of the games I was looking out for," he said. "Wycombe are a good club and I enjoyed my time there. It didn`t work out at the end but I got promoted and that`s something that will stay with me through the whole of my career."

Wycombe could make a couple of changes to the side that started their last league game at Gillingham. An injury to Scott Davies will almost certainly see Matt Bloomfield return to midfield, while Scott Rendell's midweek hat-trick will give manager Gary Waddock food for thought.

Bradford winger Omar Daley and defenders Steve Williams and Shane Duff are all rated as doubtful.
