Gaz is given the armband at Wycombe

Gareth Ainsworth has been appointed Wycombe Wanderers' club captain for the forthcoming season.

"Gaz's experience, enthusiasm and knowledge made him the ideal choice," Blues' boss Gary Waddock told wwfc.com.

"He's been great for the club since day one and he's a really good character to have around the place."

The 37 year-old winger possesses a wealth of experience having chalked up nearly 100 goals and 500 appearances in a career which began almost 20 years ago.

Ainsworth has also done two stints as caretaker manager at QPR.

He spent part of last season at Wycombe after leaving QPR and was an influential contributor to the Chairboys' late season rally, leading by example and scoring 2 goals in 12 starts and 2 substitute appearances.
