Wycombe Wanderers starlet Matt Phillips has been selected for the England U19 squad which will compete in the European U19 Championships in France later this month.
Phillips is one of 18 players who made the cut from a 23-man provisional squad who took part in a four-day training camp at Warwick University last week.
Listed on the FA website as one of four forwards in the squad, Phillips finds himself in exalted company, with the other three players all drawn from Premier League clubs.
During the Euro qualifying matches in May, Phillips came off the bench to play the final 15 minutes of England's 1-0 win over the Republic of Ireland before being promoted to the starting line-up against Bosnia & Herzegovina, playing the entire ninety minutes and marking the occasion with a fine goal from 25 yards to help his country to a resounding 4-0 victory.
Blues' boss Gary Waddock was delighted for Phillips: "It's brilliant news," he told wwfc.com. "For him to go away to a training camp and be picked for the tournament is a great achievement, especially considering the players he was competing against. It's great for him and the club and I hope he gets a chance to impress."
Matt will join up with the squad on Monday 12th July in preparation for England's first game of the tournament against Austria on Sunday 18th July.
