Blues Win Battle To Sign Striker Rendell

Wycombe Wanderers have strengthened their strike-force with the signing of 23 year-old Scott Rendell on a three-year contract from Peterborough United for an undisclosed fee.

Rendell made his name as a goalscorer at Crawley Town before joining Cambridge United where he found the net 17 times in 29 league appearances during the 2007/08 season.

He joined the Posh on-loan in February 2008 and scored 3 goals in 10 appearances to earn a permanent contract at the end of the season.

Finding his opportunities limited at London Road, Rendell spent most of the 2008/09 season back on-loan at Cambridge United where he continued to bang them in, scoring another 13 goals in 26 league appearances.

The striker spent last season on-loan at Torquay United where he made 32 starts and 9 substitute appearances in all competitions and scored 13 goals.

Wycombe boss Gary Waddock said he was confident Rendell would score goals for Wycombe:

"He's a proven goalscorer at this level but has also scored at a higher level. He had a successful loan period at Torquay last season and found the net on a regular basis. I'm confident with the way we play and the amount of chances we create, he will score goals here," Waddock told wwfc.com.
