Wycombe capture Winfield but Donnelly escapes

Wycombe Wanderers have today revealed that 22 year-old Centre-Back Dave Winfield will be signing for the club on July 1st.

Arriving from Aldershot Town where he came through the ranks of their youth system, Winfield made 26 appearances for the Shots in League Two last season.

By electing to join Wycombe when his current contract expires, the 6ft 3in defender will be reunited with Blues' boss Gary Waddock who knows Winfield well from his time as Shots' manager.

Wycombe will have to pay compensation to Aldershot as Winfield is under 24 years of age.

Speaking to wwfc.com, Waddock said: "He's extremely professional and always conducts himself superbly on and off the pitch. I'm looking forward to working with him again."

News of Winfield's signing comes on the same day that former Aldershot midfielder Scott Donnelly signed for Swansea City despite having been widely expected to rejoin Waddock at Adams Park.
