Blues sign Nikki Bull as new first-choice keeper
Wycombe Wanderers have agreed a one-year contract with goalkeeper Nikki Bull who spent last season at Brentford.
The 28 year-old England C International is no stranger to Blues' manager Gary Waddock, having previously worked with him at QPR and Aldershot.
In the 2007/08 season when Waddock's Aldershot team gained promotion to the Football League with a record 101 points, Bull kept 14 clean sheets in 44 appearances and was honoured with both the Non League Footballer of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year Awards by his fellow professionals.
Bull moved to Brentford last summer but only made seven appearances in total, suffering a severe shoulder injury in October and then finding it difficult to dislodge The Bees' on-loan Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny.
The Griffin Park club recently offered Bull a further one-year contract but the keeper turned it down and elected to link-up with Waddock again, and in doing so he becomes Wycombe's first new signing of the summer.
Waddock told wwfc.com: "I know Nikki from our time together at QPR and Aldershot. He's a very good keeper and I'm looking forward to working with him again."
The Chairboys had goalkeepers from both ends of the spectrum last season with their original choice failing to inspire confidence in either the Wycombe fans or his own defence. The situation eventually prompted Waddock to introduce the superb Tom Heaton on-loan from Manchester United, and it will be interesting to see how Bull compares to either of his predecessors.
