'If It's Football, It's Vital'

'We have to be strong mentally,' says Waddock.

Wycombe Wanderers manager Gary Waddock has called on his players to hold their nerve in tomorrow's crucial relegation battle with Exeter City.

"We have got to be strong mentally", Waddock told the Bucks Free Press.

"It's about being strong, handling the nerves and coping with the pressure, and the experienced players must play their part in that," he said.

Too often this season the Chairboys have come unstuck when burdened with the weight of expectation in games against fellow strugglers, and Waddock knows this has to change.

"We are getting to the stage where they are must win games," said the Wycombe boss.

The Chairboys will be hoping 'lucky charm' Gareth Ainsworth can work his magic again in tomorrow's crucial clash.

The charismatic and influential winger has featured in four games this season and Wycombe have won three of them, the other ending in a draw when Oldham snatched a late equaliser only after Ainsworth was substituted late in the game.
