Wycombe look for revenge against Glovers

Wycombe Wanderers take on Yeovil Town at Adams Park on Saturday in their 30th league game of the season.

Both sides are currently in the bottom half of the table. The Glovers are 15th with 31 points from 28 games, while the Chairboys occupy 23rd spot with 23 points from 29 games.

Wycombe's home record is........Won 3, Drawn 3, Lost 8.
Yeovil's away record is..............Won 1, Drawn 5, Lost 8.

With Yeovil's somewhat flattering 4-0 Boxing Day win over Wycombe still fresh in the mind, it's a new look Wanderers side that will be attempting to turn the tables on their West Country opponents this weekend as they try to build on last Saturday's victory at Bristol Rovers.

Blues boss Gary Waddock has been busy adding to his squad in January and only five of the Wycombe players who started against Yeovil in December started the match against Rovers last Saturday.

Waddock has brought in centre-back Adam Hinshelwood as he attempts to tighten up a defence which has conceded more goals than any other side in the entire football league. A new goalkeeper has also joined the squad and many feel it's only a matter of time before Steve Arnold or a loanee is handed the first-team gloves.

Alex Revell has joined the attack and made a decent debut last weekend, proving a handful for the Bristol Rovers' defence and putting his penalty away with aplomb. Whether he's the consistent goalscorer Wycombe are looking for, only time will tell.

In Midfield, Wycombe now have enough players to sink a battleship. January has seen Kevin Betsy, Dean Keates, Josh Payne, Gareth Ainsworth and Kevin McLeod join the squad, with Scott Donnelly also rumoured to be arriving on-loan next week.

The Glovers have only one new arrival since the Boxing Day clash, midfielder Owain Tudor Jones, who joined on-loan from Norwich City.

Yeovil midfielder Jean-Paul Kalala picked up his tenth booking of the season last weekend and will be suspended for Saturday's game.

Wycombe are quite likely to field the same side that won at Bristol, although Jon-Paul Pittman, Lewis Hunt and Steve Arnold will all be pushing for places in the starting line-up.

Pittman was in good form and scoring regularly before picking up a groin strain, while Hunt may have recovered from injury but could find it difficult to dislodge Kevin Betsy who had an excellent game against Rovers in an unfamiliar right-back role.

With his side having kept only two clean sheets so far this season, and with regular keeper Scott Shearer failing to impress again at Rovers on Saturday, Waddock may be tempted to start new boy Arnold who looked very solid for the reserves in a 3-1 win over Norwich City on Tuesday.

Although defender Leon Johnson played 45 minutes of the reserve game, he's unlikely to return as yet, while among Monday's new additions, Kevin McLeod is lacking match fitness and Gareth Ainsworth is still recovering from a calf injury.

With the Chairboys having lost their last 3 at home and the Glovers their last 3 away, something's got to give on Saturday in a match both sides will consider highly winnable.
