Keates and Arnold join Wycombe

Wycombe Wanderers have announced the signings of midfielder Dean Keates and goalkeeper Steve Arnold.

Both signings are free transfers, and like defender Adam Hinshelwood who joined earlier this month, both players have only been given contracts until the end of the current season.

31 year-old Keates has previously played for Walsall, Hull City, Kidderminster Harriers, Lincoln City and Peterborough.

At Peterborough, Keates played a full part in Posh's recent back-to-back promotions and scored 11 goals in 96 appearances for the club in all competitions.

This season he's only featured in 7 games and was released by Peterborough at the end of December.

20 year-old Arnold is a former Arsenal and Norwich youth team keeper who has also played for Boreham Wood, Grays Athletic and Eastleigh.

Arnold has been on trial at Adams Park for the last six weeks and joins Wycombe on the same day the club parted company with keeper Jamie Young.

Wycombe manager Gary Waddock told the Bucks Free Press:

'Keates will bring a lot to the table. He will bring experience, energy and a lot of ability. He has got a bit of everything. He will stick his foot in and he can chip in with a goal or two and will be a big character in the dressing room as well.'

On the signing of Arnold, Waddock said: 'We have got him until the end of the season. We have got him as one for the future because of his potential.'

Both players go straight into the squad for Saturday's game at Southend United.
