Injured Ainsworth returns to QPR

Gareth Ainsworth has returned to QPR after tearing a calf muscle.

The veteran winger was on a one-month loan at Wycombe and made an immediate impact when he starred in the Chairboys' victories over Millwall and Brentford.

After suffering the calf injury in training, Ainsworth missed the win against Stockport and the defeats to Southampton and Carlisle, but it had been hoped he might return against Oldham this Saturday.

However, a scan on Monday revealed the extent of the injury and the fact that Ainsworth would be out of action for a further six weeks.

Wycombe manager Gary Waddock hasn't ruled out Ainsworth returning to Adams Park later in the season.

"I would love to keep him longer term and we'll see what develops when he recovers. The impact he had in only a short spell was fantastic and he gave everyone a lift," said Waddock, speaking to his club's official website.
