Wycombe sign Gareth Ainsworth from QPR

Wycombe Wanderers have today signed veteran midfielder Gareth Ainsworth on a one-month loan from QPR.

Renowned for his work rate and determination, 36 year-old Ainsworth started his career as a trainee with Blackburn Rovers in 1989 and has since played for Northwich Victoria, Preston North End, Cambridge United, Lincoln City, Port Vale, Wimbledon, Walsall, Cardiff City and QPR.

During this time, Ainsworth has scored almost 100 goals in over 400 appearances.

He has also acted as QPR's caretaker manager on two separate occasions.

Speaking to his club's official website, Wycombe manager Gary Waddock explained his reasons for recruiting Ainsworth:

"I know him from my QPR days and he'll give us what we need at the moment - experience and fighting spirit. He is totally committed and determined to pull us out of the situation we're in and you'll see that when he pulls on the Wycombe shirt," said Waddock.

Ainsworth is available for tomorrow's game at Millwall.
