Striking options limited for Wycombe

Wycombe Wanderers striker Stuart Beavon has been ruled out of contention for six weeks following an operation to rectify a groin injury.

Fellow forward and this season's top goal-scorer Jon-Paul Pittman is also a major doubt for Saturday's game against Walsall, as the goal-shy Chairboys find their already thin strike force cut down to the bare bones.

Wycombe's striking options are now limited to Matt Harrold, who has scored just 3 goals so far, Chris Zebroski who normally operates as a winger, or youngsters Ashley Chambers and Dan Fitchett, neither of whom has started a League game this season.

Last season the Chairboys struggled to score enough goals before striker John Akinde joined on-loan from Bristol City and almost single-handedly rescued their flagging promotion campaign with 7 goals from just 11 starts.

Akinde returned to City in the summer and was never effectively replaced.

Wycombe are currently the second lowest goalscorers in League One with 13 goals from 14 games
