Chairboys captain Michael Duberry says the arrival of a new management team has given the Wycombe players a new lease of life in training this week.

Speaking to the Bucks Free Press following the appointment of new boss Gary Waddock and his assistant Martin Kuhl, Duberry said:

"Everyone is far more alert. I don't think there was any complacency under Peter Taylor, but right now everyone is really on their toes."

The veteran defender went on to say that with the slate wiped clean, no one is guaranteed a first team place and this has encouraged some of the squad who were only on the fringes during Peter Taylor's reign.

"Everyone will have to work hard and fight for their places again," he said. "We need that bit of hunger and desire and hopefully it will kick-start our season."

Duberry still believes that Wycombe have what it takes to survive in League One and thinks that despite recent results, there were signs of improvement.

However, in the wake of the Wycombe board's decision to replace Taylor, Duberry is looking to the future now.

"The club has made a decision and there is a new captain of the ship," he said.

"We're all on board. We're all pointing in the same direction and hopefully he can take us forward."

Wycombe's first game under Waddock is against Colchester United at Adams Park this afternoon.
