'I Was Sacked,' says Peter Taylor

'I Was Sacked,' says Peter Taylor

Peter Taylor has revealed that he was sacked contrary to Wycombe Wanderers version of events which clearly stated that he left by mutual consent.

On last night's Football League Show, presenter Jackie Oatley read out the following statement:

'Peter Taylor has told us tonight he wants to make it clear he was sacked. The official line of mutual consent is misleading and he wants Wycombe fans particularly to know that he didn't walk out on the club.'

Taylor's statement is clearly at odds with the Chairboys' official line which led fans to believe that Taylor wasn't fired.

The original announcement on Wycombe's website read: 'Wycombe Wanderers have parted company with manager Peter Taylor by mutual consent.'

Wanderers' Associate Director and head of media Alan Parry told Sky Sports News on Friday:

'There was no question of him being pushed. He went to the owner Steve Hayes and said - Look, I realise in this situation there's only one solution for my good and for the club's good as well - and mutually it's been agreed that he leaves.'

The same day, Chairboys owner Steve Hayes told his club's website:

'Peter is an honourable man and he knew that it was time to move on. He came to me and said he was very disappointed with the way the season has begun and understood that things had to change.'

Meanwhile it is expected that Wycombe will reveal the identity of their new manager early next week.
