'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Cobblers manager talks about win over Wycombe

Following their penalty shoot-out win over Wycombe Wanderers yesterday, the Cobblers manager gave his reaction.

Stuart Gray told his club's official website that he was disappointed to go to penalties.

'I thought we deserved to win the tie in 90 minutes but we were taken to penalties and in a cup competition the important thing is just to get through.' said Gray.

Reserving special praise for his keeper Chris Dunn who made up for a poor performance against Burton Albion on Saturday by saving two penalties last night, Gray said: 'He can gain a lot of confidence from what he did. This game could not come round quick enough for Chris and all credit to him and the penalty takers for keeping their nerve.'

'The most important thing for us is the league, but if we can enjoy a cup run as well then that's great,' said Gray.

On their message-boards, the Cobblers fans had little to say other than to agree with Gray's praise for their goalkeeper's performance in the penalty shoot-out.
