Preview: Wycombe Wanderers v Southend United

Wycombe Wanderers welcome Southend United to Adams Park on Tuesday evening for a League One fixture.

The Shrimpers were playing in the Championship as recently as the 2006/07 season and since their relegation to League One have comfortably finished in the top half of the table, taking 6th place two seasons ago and 8th spot last time around.

They arrive at Adams Park on Tuesday with some familiar faces on show as they attempt to preserve their unbeaten start to the season.

Midfielders Anthony Grant, Franck Moussa and Lee Sawyer have all spent time on loan at Wycombe in recent seasons, while winger Kevin Betsy tormented many an opposition full-back on the Adams Park turf during his eighteen months with the club.

Shrimper to watch

Lee Barnard was the top scorer for Southend last season with 11 goals and he's off to a flying start this term with 4 goals to his name already.

LG1: Huddersfield (H) Drew 2-2
Ccp: Cheltenham (A) Won 2-1

Southend summer signings

All on loan:

Matt Heath (Colchester United) - Defender
Jean-Yves Mvoto (Sunderland) - Defender
Lee Sawyer (Chelsea) - Midfielder
John White (Colchester United) - Defender

The newly promoted Chairboys will be looking to get off the mark against Southend United having lost all three of their games so far this season.

Although they've yet to win, a fine second-half performance against Charlton Athletic on the opening day of the season and an impressive first-half display against Leeds United on Saturday have shown that the Chairboys can compete at this level.

Manager Peter Taylor will be hoping his Wycombe side can find that form again on Tuesday and this time maintain it for the full ninety minutes.

Ccp: Peterborough (H) Lost 4-0

The Man In The Middle

Tuesday evening's referee is James Linington who became a National Group referee in 2008. His only Wycombe game to date was the 1-1 draw with Morecambe at Adams Park on the opening day of last season.

This is a big game for Wycombe. No one expected much from the matches against Charlton and Leeds, but the pressure is on to collect some points against Southend ahead of a tough trip to Norwich City at the weekend.
