Danny Spiller joins Wycombe for a month

Wycombe Wanderers have signed midfielder Danny Spiller on non-contract terms for one month.

Spiller played as a trialist in last Saturday's pre-season friendly at Bristol City and showed flashes of the quality which persuaded West Ham to make a bid of £750,000 for him in 2004.

The midfielder was a Gillingham player at that time and the Kent side rejected the Hammers' offer as too low.

After completing 6 years with the Gills, Spiller moved to Millwall in 2007, but a series of injury problems restricted him to just a handful of appearances and he was released this summer.

So keen is 27 year-old Spiller to show what he can do and get his career back on track, that he has agreed to play for no wages.

Wycombe manager Peter Taylor told the Bucks Free Press: 'If I had the money in my budget for an extra midfielder I probably would have wanted him around. But I don't and when I told him I didn't, he asked if he could come for nothing and show what he can do.'

Spiller may even feature on Saturday against Charlton Athletic and good luck to the guy.
