Wycombe Wanderers Sign Chris Westwood
Defender Chris Westwood has joined Wycombe Wanderers on a free transfer from Peterborough United.
Westwood played his part in Posh's recent back-to-back promotions having previously won promotion with both Hartlepool United and Walsall.
The versatile 32 year-old usually plays as a central defender but can slot-in anywhere along the back line if necessary.
Wycombe manager Peter Taylor told his club's official website: 'I'm delighted to have signed Chris. He's got good experience and is a good talker both on and off the field.'
'He's exactly what we needed after losing a couple of experienced players over the summer.'
Westwood told wwfc.com that he was excited about his new challenge:
'I had a meeting with Peter Taylor, he explained his vision for the club and I think it's an exciting place to come. Hopefully I can lend my experience to the squad while I'm here.'
Peterborough fans paid tribute to Westwood on their messageboard:
'100% Thanks Westie. A great reader of the game and organiser of the defence.'
'Despite his lack of pace I thought he was a good centre back. He will be an asset to any L1 or L2 club.'
'Thank you Chris for a tremendous couple of years. The Westwood - Morgan partnership won us League 2 promotion and we won't forget that.'
'He always seemed to give it 100% on the pitch. Lacked a bit of pace, but was still very good at L2 and decent at L1.'
'a solid, honest and talented pro and I thank him for his service.'
Westwood has signed a two-year contract with the Chairboys.
