Wycombe to Visit Bristol City

Wycombe Wanderers will vist Bristol City's Ashton Gate stadium on 1st August for a pre-season friendly.

The match will mark a return to their former club for Wanderers' pair Tommy Doherty and Craig Woodman.

The Robins also loaned striker John Akinde to Wycombe at the end of last season.

City manager Gary Johnson talked to his club's official website about the fixture:

'It is the right game for us to play seven days before the start of what will be a very competitive season,' he said.

'We wanted a typically English type of game which was competitive but would also allow us to work on our own shape.'

'The two clubs have good links. It will be the return to Ashton Gate of Tommy Doherty and Craig Woodman and our own striker John Akinde has done well there this season.'

Many Wycombe fans are hoping the 'good links' might extend to a season-long loan for Akinde in 2009/10.

Wycombe's confirmed pre-season friendlies so far are as follows:

Errea South West Cup - Mon 13th July - Sun 19th July

Windsor and Eton (A) - Wed 22nd July 7.45pm

Eastbourne Borough (A) - Fri 24th July 7.30pm

Dover Athletic (A) - Sat 25th July 3.00pm
