Woodman Wants Two More Years

Wycombe Wanderers left-back Craig Woodman is reluctant to sign a new and improved one-year extension to his contract and is holding out for a longer term.

Woodman is looking for the added security of a two-year extension but is keen to stress that he is happy at the club.

Speaking to the Bucks Free Press, Woodman said: '"I haven't turned down the offer, I don't want to leave the club, I'm settled here in a new house and it would be nice to stay for as long as possible.'

'I've been offered an improved contract but the problem is that I would really like two years. They've offered one and I've got to run it over with the family. I've got a little one and he starts school in the summer and to drag him out after maybe six months is not what I want really. But if they are only offering a year and that's all they're offering, I can't do much about it.'

Woodman has played every game this season and has been an important part of a Wycombe defence which has conceded fewer goals than every other English league club apart from Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Whatever happens with his new contract, Woodman is not going to let it affect his game, saying: 'The contract will be done whenever, I'm just concentrating on the games. We are still clear at the top and that's where we want to be at the end of the season.'
