Match Preview: Wycombe v Bradford

It's another big game for Wycombe Wanderers this Saturday when Bradford City visit Adams Park.

Bradford are currently 3rd in League Two with 27 points, 1 point behind the leaders.

Their League record is 8 wins, 3 draws and 4 defeats from 15 games played.

The Bantams had a great start to the league season, winning 5 of their first 6 games and sitting at the top of the table. However, a downturn in form saw them only manage 1 win from their next 6 outings. Their recent form is better and they have taken 7 points out of their last 3 games.

The Bantams are hoping to do a Buckinghamshire double this Saturday. In their most recent game last weekend, they visited the illegitimate North Bucks outfit and recorded a pleasing 2-1 victory in the FA Cup 1st round.

With 29 goals to their name, Bradford are the 2nd highest scorers in the division. On their travels they have scored 13 goals.

They have conceded 21 goals, 10 of them away from home.

8 different players have scored for Bradford this season. Peter Thorne with 11 goals is the top scorer in the division, but Barry Conlon and Michael Boulding have also weighed in with 5 league goals each.

Omar Daley is another player to watch out for. His excellent performances on the left-wing have delighted the Bantams' supporters recently.

The Chairboys are still unbeaten in the league and currently lie 2nd in the division with 28 points, courtesy of 7 wins and 7 draws. They are level on points with leaders Darlington, but have an inferior goal-difference, although they do have a game in hand over the Quakers.

Wycombe have scored 15 league goals (8 at home) and have conceded 6 (4 at home).

The Blues were in action on Monday night, beating AFC Wimbledon 4-1 in the FA Cup at Kingsmeadow.

Top scorer for Wycombe in league games is Chris Zebroski with 4 goals, although Matt Harrold also has 4 in all competitions after his cup hat-trick on Monday.

Last Season Wycombe did the double over Bradford. Scott McGleish scored the only goal of the game at Valley Parade. Then in May the Blues won 2-1 at Adams Park with goals from Delroy Facey and Leon Knight. This game saw Matty Phillips make his senior debut for Wycombe and indeed the youngster made the first goal for Facey.

Team News

News just in: QPR striker Angelo Balanta has today joined Wycombe on a 2 month loan deal and goes straight into the squad for Saturday's game.

The on-loan Simon Church and Franck Moussa are available again after missing the Wimbledon game because their parent-clubs didn't want them cup tied.

Tommy Doherty also missed Monday's game with a slight thigh strain, but should be fit to return.

Matt Bloomfield came on for a few minutes at the end of Monday's match and followed that up with 45 minutes in the reserves at Southend the following day. He could well be on the bench against Bradford.

There is no fresh news from the club regarding Gavin Grant.

Peter Taylor will probably reintroduce Simon Church to the team, and Doherty should take over from Lewwis Spence, but whether Franck Moussa can regain his place after John Mousinho's fine performance on Monday is another matter. Pacy left-winger Omar Daley is going to need a lot of looking after on Saturday and it's possible the energetic Mousinho will keep his place and help Lewis Hunt to do just that.

New signing Angelo Balanta is almost certain to start, as QPR wouldn't have loaned him out just to keep the bench warm. Balanta told Wanderers' official website that he prefers to play on the left side of attack and likes to cut-in and shoot. He says he's here to score a few goals.

It's 28 days since Wycombe fans last saw a home game completed and they will be hoping that the 4 goals the team scored on Monday have sharpened their appetites for more. Bradford score a lot of goals and the Blues will probably have to score at least twice themselves in order to win this game.

We have to lose eventually, but I'm going to be optimistic and predict that it won't be on Saturday.

Wycombe 2 Bradford 1
