Thorne Gunning For Wycombe

Bradford City's Peter Thorne has set his sights on shooting holes in Wycombe Wanderers' excellent defensive record.

Thorne is currently the top scorer in League Two with 11 goals to his name.

Wycombe on the other hand, have the Football League's best defensive record, having only conceded 6 goals in their 14 league games so far this season. They have kept 8 clean sheets and have yet to concede more than a single goal in a league match.

None of this worries Thorne, who told the Bradford Telegraph & Argos: 'I look at it as a big challenge. I'm not the sort of person who thinks 'oh no, this will be a hard battle'. It would be great to score against them. They've got a good record but you should try and use it to your advantage as an extra incentive.'

Thorne feels his reputation may precede him and that Wycombe's defenders will have to up their game when facing him.

'If I do play, I'll expect a bit more special attention as well, being the top goal-scorer at the moment. The defenders will know they have to raise their game but that's football and that's why I love it.' Thorne told the paper.

Thorne feels that there is even more to come from Bradford City this season and that they have achieved third spot without playing particularly well: 'There are always going to be chances knocking round with the way we play and it's a promising sign that we've not yet been that good really, but we're still right up there. So if we hit top form …"

The Chairboys, who currently lie in second place, face Bradford City at Adams Park this Saturday and many Wycombe fans will feel that the potential is there for a lot more to come from their side this season as well.
