Lambert Takes Culverhouse

Paul Lambert, the ex Wycombe manager who quit the club after two years of failing to lead the team to promotion, has appointed Ian Culverhouse as his number two at League One minnows Colchester United.

Lambert, who only succeeded in taking Wycombe to 12th and 7th place in League Two during his two seasons at Adams Park, was appointed by the League One strugglers earlier this week.

Now he has recruited his former number-two Culverhouse, who had remained at Wycombe after Lambert walked out.

This news comes as no shock to most Wanderers fans, who suspected that Culverhouse would link up again with Lambert. The only doubt was whether the Scot would find another managerial post in English football.

Wycombe managing director Steve Hayes told the club's official website: 'We have agreed a small compensation package with Colchester and we wish him well.'

Wycombe fans now wait to see whether Lambert will try to acquire any of his former players in the January transfer window. Hopefully, if the Wanderers keep their current form going, tempting players to leave a promotion chasing team for relegation strugglers Colchester may prove difficult.
